Could Ilya Kovalchuk’s NHL return be to the Columbus Blue Jackets? Ever since news broke of his interest in coming back to the NHL, fans have wondered just where he would end up. Of course, the New Jersey Devils seemed to be the most likely place for the 34-year-old winger, but that may not be the case.
According to John Shannon there have been talks between Kovalchuk’s agents and the guys over at the Blue Jackets’ camp. Of course, the Devils will have to sign him before he can be available for other teams on July 1st. However, it seems that Columbus truly has him in their sights.
If he ends up there, the team could be bursting with new talent this season, especially after acquiring Artemi Panarin just days ago. That, and if Kovalchuk truly desires to win the Cup, this could be a match made in heaven. We’ll see what happens in the days to come.
